The Burden isn’t too weighty for you in this Season. Simplify it. Let me show you how

For everyone God has invited to join Him in a great task in this season, where you feel like you’re looking at the weight and enormity of the task ahead and it feels too great for you, and it feels like the weight will crush you, I’ll tell you this:

This task is not for you to carry alone.

You will carry it with God, and with people.

God knows your capacity, and He still thinks you can carry this weight with Him. So trust Him.

Let these be the steps that guide you to victory in this season. Simple steps.

1. Take the invitation and agree.

Take the invitation and agree

Place your hand in Christ’s outstretched hand and accept the invitation. Agree to step out with Him. Place your hand in His, and trust that He is responsible enough not to let you fall or be put to shame.

God cares about shame too, and He cares about His servants being embarrassed. In a sense, it reflects on Him if you are broken by the weight He has placed on you. So trust Him, and be responsible with carrying your part too.

2. Create strong walls around you that keep truth in and lies out.

Create strong walls around you that keep truth in and lies out.
Create strong walls around you that keep truth in and lies out.

Do this first by creating a structure of activities, a routine that constantly allows you to be exposed to truth. Create opportunities for the Holy Spirit to encounter your mind and heart and bring light.

This could be listening each day to a message from a trusted speaker that speaks into what you are facing in this season. Write down the key takeaways and keep reminding yourself of them.

Whatever words God speaks to you, or whatever He brings to light, collect them like seeds in a journal.

These words and pictures are for meditation in this season. They become your shield of faith and help quench the fiery darts, the lies of the enemy.

Your routine should also include daily Bible reading and study.

To overcome the spirit of slumber that often attacks in seasons like this, try reading the Word while standing up. Read it out loud to yourself. There is something powerful about hearing it with your own ears. It sinks deeper into your heart. Try explaining what you have read to someone else, perhaps your children or members of your household.

Also, surround yourself with voices that have spoken God’s truth to you in the past. Stay close to those through whom God has spoken directly to your heart or helped clear away confusion in previous seasons. Reconnect with them now. You need to see truth everywhere you look. Build your walls that way. Intentionally create that environment around you.

Surround yourself with people who can pray with you and for you. They may be the same people already mentioned. They are people who have proven themselves faithful in past seasons. They are important. Ask God to bring them close to you now. He will answer because He is your Father.

Again, let the people in these two categories be people whose fruit has already been proven over time. Do not choose new or untested people in this season. Because of the cloud of confusion that can exist in difficult seasons, it is neither wise nor safe to do so.

This is not the season to test new people.

Choose those who have already been proven.

3. Focus on today.

Rather than carrying the whole task ahead of you in your mind, simplify.

Rather than being overwhelmed by the full weight of the journey, focus on today.

Ask yourself and write it down:

What steps can I take today that move me forward toward the destination God has for me in this season?

Then identify what you can do today in each area of the task, even if those actions seem very small.

Then simply do today’s work.

Tomorrow, ask the same question again.

Plan.

Do today’s work again.

Living this way makes the journey manageable. God will put all the pieces together. Your responsibility is today’s obedience.

Remember, one tactic of the enemy is to convince you that the task is too overwhelming and that you cannot do it.

On your own, you cannot.

That is exactly why God is with you.

He will also lie to you and tell you that the challenge is not worth the effort. That what waits on the other side is not worth pursuing.

That is a lie.

God knows the glory that lies ahead of you.

Do not give in to the enemy.

Believe God.

Hold on to God.

Trust God.

God bless you.

I always had the fear of not being present for my children, of not being there. Working in the medical profession as a doctor, there are not many specialties or fields that allow you the freedom or opportunity to be fully present — to have time available during the formative years of your children.
