How not to sink in the Storm

How not to sink in the Storm

Many times, we fixate on the problems, the reality, and the physical experiences and sensations. The physical experience of the problems, the data given, and the reactions they produce within our bodies—these are all physical experiences. Fixating on them only continues to produce pain in our souls.

Through the imagination of the problem, the imagination of the response in ourselves or in our loved ones, all that turning over in our imaginations produces nothing but pain in our souls. It is not beneficial and does not produce godliness. That is what the enemy wants: for us to stay stuck rehearsing the pain and the painful stimulus.

A higher way is to ascend beyond that first level of reality by going above in our minds. For where your mind is, there your reality will be. That is what will shape what you experience in your body as well, whether sensations of peace, joy, and hope, or sensations of pain, gloom, darkness, and sorrow.

When your physical reality is captured by the devil and begins producing the fruits of negative spirits—gloom, despair, hopelessness, complaining, worry, and anxiety—when the physical situation has been set and you are besieged to produce those fruits in your spirit, go upstairs. Ascend beyond this level of reality. Go to Jesus in your mind, and think of Him seated at the right hand of God.

This is the same way Stephen escaped death in his mind, even though his physical body was under siege by the enemy and those operating by the spirit of the enemy. They had captured Stephen, and he was not going to be rescued physically. But in his mind, he had ascended. Standing before the judges, he raised his eyes to heaven and saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

In that moment, he had transcended above and beyond the physical circumstances through which the enemy thought he would capture his soul. No, his soul had escaped, just as one escapes the snare of the fowler. In that ascended state, he even had the strength to pray for and forgive his accusers and persecutors.

That is the unique ability we have as Christians: to live in two dimensions and in two realms. The enemy may capture the body, but he cannot capture the soul.

Take note: the battle is always for your soul. Even when things come against your body, your finances, your relationships, or your mind, the end point of every arrow the enemy shoots is always aimed at capturing and injuring your soul.

So rescue your soul by setting it above the physical stimulus, above the physical evidence. Set your soul on Jesus, on God, on the Holy Spirit, on the host of heaven, and on the cloud of witnesses who cheer you on. Think of them. See them with your mind’s eye. See them in your spirit.

Stay there. Stay there. Stay there.

Abide there.

That is how we win the victory through our faith, which then conquers the physical situation and puts the devil to shame.

I always had the fear of not being present for my children, of not being there. Working in the medical profession as a doctor, there are not many specialties or fields that allow you the freedom or opportunity to be fully present — to have time available during the formative years of your children.
